Practice Perspective

A Polar Pop sometime between 2 and 4 PM provides me with simple relief and release during my workday. I am not sure why. Perhaps it is the mixture of White Cherry soda combined with Wild Berry Powerade, the round pebble ice, or the guilty pleasure of drinking from a plastic straw.
It is probably the break during a stressful day. After several hours of being questioned by clients, co-workers, and sometimes myself, it is nice to take a break and get a smile from a Circle K employee for a mere 86 cents.
I love being a lawyer, but there is little balance between stress and joy. The scales almost always lean towards stress over joy. On the other hand, getting a Polar Pop is almost all joy, and almost no stress.
It is fun to find joy in the simple things. I find them with coffee on a Saturday morning, white lights on a terrace in the summer, or being with friends on a Friday night. Sometimes it is nice, even on a stressful day, to take 15 minutes to enjoy something as simple and joyful as filling up an 86 cent Polar Pop cup with pebble ice, White Cherry soda, and Wild Berry Powerade on a warm weekday afternoon.
