Takiya Lewis Blalock
Takiya Lewis Blalock is a native of Hertford County, North Carolina. She began her post-secondary education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she earned a B.A. in English. After completing her undergraduate degree, she attended North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she graduated with her Juris Doctorate in 2010.
After graduating from law school, she returned to Eastern North Carolina to practice law and provide legal services to the residents of the area. In 2012, she opened her own law practice, where she practiced criminal and civil law for the next 12 years.
In 2024, she was elected to serve as District Court Judge for District 7, which includes Hertford, Bertie, Northampton and Halifax Counties.
Judge Lewis Blalock is active in her community and volunteers with several different organizations. She is chair of the Hertford County Economic Advisory Board, a Hertford County Teen Court volunteer, and she participates in the Hertford County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council. She also played an integral role in bringing the NC Mock Trial Program to Bertie and Hertford County High Schools. She is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the Hertford County Branch of the NAACP, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She has served as a State Bar Councilor since 2019, and in that role, was appointed to the LAP board in 2023.
She is married to Nick and has two beautiful children, Peyton and Everly.
