Deja Kemp
Deja Kemp, JD is Research Faculty at the University of Pennsylvania and currently serves as the Director of Legal Policy for Actionable Intelligence for Social Policy (AISP). She is a legal expert in cross-sector data sharing and integration. She currently provides expertise in designing and implementing legal frameworks to facilitate cross-sector data sharing, and crafts guidance for the field. She is regularly called on to speak about federal privacy laws and provide risk mitigation strategies for executive leadership through trainings, contractual safeguards, and building awareness of the vital role of lawyers in preserving privacy.
Prior to joining AISP, she served as Senior Associate General Counsel for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, providing counsel on contracts, litigation, policy, partnerships, and administrative practice. She has also worked in private practice assisting local governments and nonprofits in complex regulatory compliance matters and civil litigation. She earned her BA in Women & Gender Studies from Dartmouth College and her JD from Wake Forest University School of Law and holds law licenses in North Carolina and South Carolina. Prior to practicing law, Deja was a middle school science teacher.
